Jamie and his team at Cove Clothing have had a busy day today. Not only have they released a new hoodie, but they’ve been exhibiting at a Trade Fair in Stratford-upon-Avon. There’s the stock to look after, the social accounts to keep up to date and the e-commerce platform to keep tabs on. What makes this new Cornish start up different is the fact that everyone involved is still in sixth-form in Truro.
With the encouragement of Sam Wardman and the rest of the Young Enterprise crew, they’ve already won awards for ‘Best Trade Stand Fair’ and came close in the ‘Social Media Award’ (a company after my own heart). It’s now full steam ahead for another Trade Fair at Eden on 19 March and then onto the Young Enterprise Regional Finals at Culdrose on 8 May.
The team of 10 is lead by Managing Director Jamie Craze, Director of Marketing Matt Pitman and Director of Operations Beth Leighfield. They are marketing high-quality affordable gorgeous beanies, surf inspired hoodies and cool tee-shirts which sell the Cornish Dream and perhaps even spread a little bit of Kernow love throughout the rest of the UK (or, who knows with the power of social media – the rest of the world!)
I spoke to Jamie tonight and although tired from a long day in Stratford, was buoyant about what’s coming up. For example, they’ve just introduced wooden surf combs and organic surf wax. Being social media natives, they can be followed on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat (CoveClothing) and YouTube as seen in the video below. Why not support these young entrepreneurs in their exciting journey – you never know, they could be the next Superdry. You heard it here first!
