Following on from the recent Pantone 2016 colour post by Absolute’s Sophie Allsopp, we’ve got a few ideas about what our lovely interiors stores in Truro are offering in the way of those hallowed colours.
Those colours being Rose Quartz and Serenity, or soft dusky pink and the coolest blue to you and me, are gorgeous. At least, gorgeous if thrown around yourself as a luxurious scarf or cashmere jumper – but can they really work outside of a beautifully lit, exquisitely selected interior design set?
Happily, yes. As Sophie said, be selective. Uneeka shows us how with little accent pieces that subtly embrace the tone and freshness of the colours. The bowls (£7.99) look great against the dark wood and the jars (£7.99)are perfect for popping in some tea-lights to welcome in the spring evenings.
For the more adventurous, this statement chest would look fabulous against a white wall, especially in a hallway – perfect for hiding away those school bags that my kids dump on the floor as soon as they enter home-territory. Uneeka have a number of these ‘one-off’ pieces, in fact, if you hop over to their brand new website you’ll find some great bargains this week.
Illustrated Living, never knowingly shy when it comes to colour, show us how Orla Kiely uses calm sea blues and soft pinks – letting them purr next to their brighter, brasher counterparts. The lamp is a fab example of how a little investment in this season’s colours can transform and (obviously) light up a tired corner. I love the way the ladybird gives a cheeky nod to Rose Quartz. The cover photo features a beautiful soft pink throw (£67) which can also be found in the store.
Clementine quietly lead the pack when it comes to soft, subtle comfort. The curvaceous shell-like vases (£4.95/6.95) blend beautifully with the soft blues of the blanket, (£38) which plays into my desire to wear the colours as well as live with them. I would happily drape this over an elegant sofa in the daytime (if I had one), and then snuggle into it with a glass of something warming by night-time.
So, the Pantone choice of colours for 2016 are not so hard to introduce into your home, especially if you’re looking to soften some edges or re-fresh a few corners. Fortunately, you’ll find Truro’s interior stores are ahead of Pantone’s curve and are well-stocked and waiting.
